The programme will last from 29th of July until 7th of September.
It is anticipated that 20-24 trainers will be required for this summer programme, working for a 6-8 week period over July and August with groups of 20-25 teachers, each attending for one or two weeks.
Trainers will be working for 5 days per week, with a two-day weekend between each working week. A working week would involve between 20 and 25 hours of delivery (face-to-face training), plus any preparation etc that is needed, and maybe some connected duties.
Trainers should have experience of working with teachers of young learners at beginner levels from state schools, ideally in lower/ middle income countries and/or where resources can be limited. Trainers should be capable of:
- Facilitating the use of English among the teachers during sessions
- Modelling/ demonstrating techniques and approaches that are relevant for primary learners
- Organising the teachers to conduct short periods of micro-teaching
- Managing teachers with mixed abilities in English and grading language accordingly
- Considering teachers’ abilities, context and background during the course
- Guiding participants on when the use of their first language may be necessary, and when use of the target language will better support their learning
TransformELT is applying for this contract. Please let Alan Mackenzie know if you are interested in applying and what your availability might be. Because of the numbers involved, we would also like you all to reach out to any young learner trainers that might be interested in joining the team and ask them to send us a CV. The day rate is yet to be finalised due to British Council tender policies. It is, however, likely to be lower than our regular daily rate. Please state in your application email what your lowest acceptable day rate might be, so that we can manage expectations accordingly.
