creative projects
These are some of the ongoing creative initiatives coordinated by some of the C Group members.
BritLit was originally established in Portugal to help teachers in secondary schools to work effectively with the extended reading texts (short stories) in the national curriculum. Since then it has become a global resource and offers access to texts and supporting material for the whole school range of English language teaching.

The Asia Teacher-Writer Group was founded 2003. It aims to foster the use of creative forms of writing as part of the teaching of English, in the belief that the affective dimension needs development alongside the cognitive; to produce published materials written by Asian teachers for Asian students, in the belief that all too much of what is available on the international market is culturally or otherwise unsuitable in Asian contexts.

The ELT Online Reading Group is an electronic version of a face-to-face reading group. The Group was created in 2007, with the support of the British Council, to encourage ELT professionals and TESOL students to read literature in English, as well as promote professional development and intercultural competence through the discussion of works literature.

The Fair List, UK. There are many kinds of excellence in ELT. Some of these are rewarded. For innovation in ELT, for example, we have the ELTons. For those who write good books we have, the Ben Warren Trust, the English Speaking Union and the Extensive Reading Foundation awards. The Fair List celebrates excellence of a different kind; the achievement of gender balance in plenary speakers, presenters or speaker panels at ELT events, annually, in the UK .

Lessonstream was launched in 2011 and contains almost 100 lesson plans, most of which make use of online visual materials, especially video. The activities are aimed at teachers who teach English as well as teachers who teach other subjects in English. Content is published with a Creative Commons license which means that others are free to remix and republish the work for non-profit purposes.
